The fruit garden

The context:

Châteauneuf de Grasse is a village located in the Pays de Grasse between 220 and 600 meters above sea level. The municipality counts more than 3 500 inhabitants and has the specificity of having very specific soils for fruits and aromatic plants (PPAM). Nowadays, there are still many cultivation fields with historic farmers. In a social and solidarity economy, the village strongly support local production and provide public land to help farmer’s installation.

 

The project:

In partnership with the village of Châteauneuf de Grasse, MUL Foundation has launched the creation of a 2 000 square meters fruit garden. Located in a municipal field, the garden counts more than 20 different specifics such as sweet orange, sanguinely orange, clementine, apricot, cherry and plum. This project is part of a social and societal commitment as it will have an educational goal for local schools and professional centers. Cultivated in Organic agriculture, all the fruit harvested will be entirely given to schools in a local and sustainable sourcing with traceability and environmental respect.
